» Remington 870 express magnum?
what would you use a 12 gauge 870 express magnum with a 3.5" chamber for?I have the 3.5 version. That being said, I think the 3" shotgun is better made (at least in the 870 line).
The 3.5 will help you with geese and turkey. You're just throwing maybe 10-50 more pellets at them (depending on the load) --- which isn't a bad thing for birds that are hard to put down at long ranges.
Deer it doesn't matter, the ammo reps (if honest) will recommend you just stick with the 3" b/c the 3.5 offers nothing more with a slug.
Modified choke is going to be good for goose. If you shoot anything bigger than 2's you're going to want to sight it in to make sure you shoot dead on. Bnything bigger than 2's and my gun sho...... - 2009-07-03

» SMB-losing WorkGroup?
first off, thanks to the Dev's for all the hard work and amazing results!
ok here's the problem; i have 5 comps and the xbox on a home network, the problem only involves 2 Comps, though.
everything is plugged into a di-604 router, running as admin, xbmc v2.
the 2 xp pro sp2 comps each have shares which xbmc sees fine...sort of.
Comp 1 is my main machine. It's on, it belongs to the same WorkGroup as Comp 2 and xbmc, it's sharing a drive.
xbmc sees and can access the smb share fine.
Comp 1 on and Comp 2 is off. boot up Comp 2, xbmc sees Comp 1 & 2's shares and can access them fine.
So, at this point i can access the shares of both comps fine thru xbmc until i turn off Comp 2.
If i turn Comp 2 off and leave Comp 1...... - 2009-07-03

Hi everyone,
I'm an art director that needs to shoot a map that's crinkled up enough that it looks like mountains. Anyone have any advice on to set up this shot and make a shot like this work?
thanksA vertical shot, like a copy stand with strong side lighting to cast shadows from the papers crinkles. That's where I would start.Crinkle it up to achieve "peaks," light from the side, get in very very close with a macro setup, shoot it in front of a blue/green screen and fill the background. Then spend a lot of time in post-processing making it look real.

I know the 60 GB is better because it comes with a starter kit but do they sell just a hard drive without the starter kit and if they do how much is it?
Do they sell the 20GB in ebgames or gamestop how much does it cost?
How much can each hold? (size)
Which game it better Gta 4 or gears of war 2between the 60 and the 20, the biggest advantage is not the extra memory (since xbox doesnt let you freely load movies/music onto the hard drive like ps3 does, theres not much other than xbox live arcade games that you can even put on it). the 120 gig elite model is a huge waste of space. unless you plan on ripping all your games onto the hard drive just to fill it up, its really way too much space. it IS black, which is cool, but it doesnt ...... - 2009-07-03

I had an argument with someone about where I live. I am 18 years old. I say I live at my moms. I have all my stuff there, my mail goes there. Someone said that I was living with them. I will spend 2 or 3 days there then go to my moms and stay there a week, then go back to that house and spend 4-5 days. then go back to my moms for a week again. Sometimes I will be at my moms a little longer, sometimes at friends for a day or so longer. Depending if they want me to stay a couple more nights or not. I use to live there for a few months, so I get very very little mail there. I only bring a duffle bag of stuff there when I go. I have been blown away with some of the new features on 3.5.0 and want to start running it. However, on my server I am still running MySQL version 3 and PHP 4.
I have spoken with my hosting provider and it is not possible to upgrade my system as it uses Plesk and new versions of MySQL and PHP are not compatible. Will this create any problems in the running of the new forum software? It is almost ludicris that you are still using MySQL3, php4 is not old, its still being developed, while not overly active, its still solid and there. vBulletin isn't taking any specific advantage on php5, so you are safe on that one. ... incident in Afghanistan?
Should Bush or Obama award silver stars to the males or take back the silver star given to Monica?I think the fact that Brown performed heroically in a front line situation, i.e., in the line of fire where according to strict US Army policy female soldiers may not be assigned, was instrumental in the US Army's decision to award her the Silver Star.
The idea that a young woman of 18 who had next to no combat experience did her job, and more, since she didn't have to shield either of those soldiers with her own body, while in close proximity to an exploding APC and under heavy enemy fire is unusually inspiring.
I'm not sure why you are suggesting that she did not act more heroically than ...... - 2009-07-03

Mike. What kind of photos do you want to take? If you do anything outdoors in sunlight, I'd definitely recommend a polarizer.
You might want a simple UV filter as well to help protect your lens from scratches..much easier to replace a $10 UV filter than an entire lens... ;)I agree with the previous post - I always keep a clear UV filter on my lens to protect it and carry a circular polarizer (please note in case you are not familair with filters that circular polarizers are needed for auto-focus cameras as linear polarizers can mess with the auto-focus system.)

I've learned from that and created my own image gallery, the only problem is that when the image loads, it loads to the top left, so my image hangs off the side of the page.
All my images are different sizes, so i firstly need the thumbnail pannel to recognise the size of each thumbnail and bunch them up centre aligned (on the horizontal axis) so that there are no massive black gaps in between.

Ikkyu Sojun [Kyounshi]
(b Kyoto, 1394; d Kyoto, 1481). Japanese Zen Buddhist priest, poet, calligrapher and painter. He was one of the most unconventional figures in 15th-century Japan, an uncompromising critic of the Zen establishment, both in his poems, religious statements, paintings and calligraphic works and in his eccentric conduct that sometimes verged on the manic. Kyoun (‘Crazy Cloud’), his self-mocking sobriquet, is rich in literary connotations and emphasizes his non-attachment to the world, the essential requirement of a committed Zen monk. His famous manuscript of the Chinese verses named Kyounshu (‘Crazy Cloud anthology’) reveals Ikkyu’s unique literary genius and also his mercurial temperament. » If a tree is cut down, and lays for a year, but the wood is not split, is that wood considered "seasoned"?
Not after only one year. It should be split and stacked in an open area for 6 months to one year before it will really be "seasoned"Yes, seasoned just means the wood has been cut for 6 months or so, and has therefore dried out thoroughly. Some woods take longer than others, evergreens which are sappy tend to take the longest. Splitting just helps break up the wood into smaller portions for use as firewood and helps speed up the drying process a bit.I see wood sellers that try to claim this is true. I think it depends how much it's been rained on. It really needs to sit 6 months or more in a dry stack to be fully dry, in my opinion. But if you really want to get technical, you need to test the wood for moisture content. Our local f...... - 2009-07-03

VICTORIA, British Columbia – The mystery emerged slowly, its clues maddeningly diverse.
Sally Lester, an animal pathologist at a British Columbia laboratory, slipped a slide under her microscope – a tissue from a dog on Vancouver Island. Her lens focused on a tiny cell that looked like a boiled egg. It was late 1999. She had started seeing a lot of those.
On the eastern side of the island, several dead porpoises washed ashore early the next year. Scientist Craig Stephen, who runs a research center on the island, slit one open. He found its lungs seized by pneumonia and i...... - 2009-07-03

Gastro sweeps nursing homes
From:
By Philippa Duncan
April 15, 2006
AN outbreak of gastroenteritis has swept through four or five Hobart nursing homes.
Public Health Director Roscoe Taylor said yesterday that "at least four or five" homes had recently reported cases of gastro, which he was 99 per cent sure was viral rather than food related.
Symptoms of viral gastroenteritis include diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.
Severe cases can cause dehydration.
The first symptoms were reported late last week at the Queen Victoria Home at Lindisfarne.
At least 30 cases were reported and yesterday staff and residents were still sick.
Freemasons Home at Lindisfarne also had a few cases this week.

All one needs is an all-manual still camera, non-fancy variety. It's all straight photo technique done with manual settings and transparency film (at least that's the way I do it). And to increase my chances - mile after mile of endless chasing, weird weather, really long nights, critters, willingness to drive to anywhere...increases the odds. But you already know all that...being one of the most die-hard chasers anywhere!

» How blonde should i go?
i look like this
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj308...
and want my hair to look something like this??
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj308...
what should i do about my hair???GEt someone professional to do heavy "Hi lites" and go to the tanning bed and you'll look great. but it will make you look washed out if you don't get a tan. and DO NOT use stuff you buy at the grocery store. it will really damage your hair and will look yellow and gross. go get it done.
good luckHonestly, with your skin tone and your blue eyes, I would say go darker. Go with a golden light-medium brown. It will compliment your skin tone and your eyes wonderfully. The extreme blonde will be too harsh.
Good luck! If you want...... - 2009-07-03

... good use of flash!
How did you meter for that - or did you use the camera's settings and TTL
Suggestion: use the burn tool in PS and remove/dull that slight blow-out below the main subject's side burn
:)
e_I use portrait mode and flash, so it is normal camera settings
Thnx very much for suggestions

So i live in Minnesota and i want to take some industrial photos. But i have no idea where anything industrial is. I'm looking for like an old factory, warehouse, or power plant or something. I have no idea how to find it though. Searched google came up with nothin. Does anyone live in Minnesota? If you do, do you know of any good industrial spots?Try posting here (http://thephotoforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40), you might get a few more responses.I know that tony (shorty6049) lives in Minnesota and i think he's shot some industrial shots. » Is courageous the soul who ventures into time and space to learn of their divinity?
For while they cannot lose, they can think they have, and the loss will seem intolerable. And while they cannot fail, they can think they have, and the pain will seem unbearable. And while they cannot ever be less than they truly are...powerful, eternal, and loved...they can think they are, and all hope will seem lost.
And therein lies their test. A test of perceptions: of what to focus on, of what to believe in, in spite of appearances.
Courageous? No such thing as pain sirSometimes one is not aware of the traveling. Maybe courage would be a factor if one had issues with understanding fear.Okay, I don't know why, but for some reason, what you have just said has touched me more, and makes more sense, than anything I have ever...... - 2009-07-03
» Zidane second at the FIFA world trophy ???
Oh come on, i never really gave plently of credit to that award before but now it got even more ridiculous.
I love Zidane even if i was bitterly deceived by his foolish coup de boule, but second ???
You can't tell me he was better than Ronaldhino or Etoo or Henry.
I mean he did nothing prior to the world cup, and during only maybe three matches good including one exceptionnal against Brazil.
Is that all it takes to win a trophy ?
Henry and Etoo must be gutted after the great season they had.I agree the WC weighed too much. Plus, it was certainly a way to wish him goodbye. It's more about Henry not being there that I have a problem with. In terms of performance on the whole season, I really don't understand why he's being ostracised tha...... - 2009-07-03

» Can I do anything to stop my parents from fighting?
My parents fight a lot, and since it's close to X-mas time there's a whole load of crap to get done. My dad's mad at my mom because she's dragging out putting the decorations up and stuff, but she's trying her hardest and she has a lot of other stuff to do so she can't do it all in one day like he thinks she can. She asked me to help today and I said I couldn't because I had stuff to do, and haven't been helping out with cleaning and chores lately because I've been feeling kind of stressed out and have a lot on my mind. I have a brother, 6, a sister, 12, and I'm 16, btw. They always talk to me about each other and how the other one annoys them, and I can't just choose sides or say exact...... - 2009-07-03
» Sony A 700 announced - competes with Nikon D300, Canon 40D
So here we go, Sony is finally stepping up. They put in a GREAT sensor (CMOS, not CCD!) and a lot of really deeply-thought-out functionality.
DP REVIEW LINK (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0709/07090601sonydslra700.asp)
I have no intention of buying one - I've got a lot of Canon gear and will buy the Leica R10 when it comes to market - but if I were starting from scratch I would seriously consider Sony. They have ALWAYS set the standard once they've decided to get into the professional market. I wouldn't be surprised to see them be a huge photo-brand in the pro market a few years from now.
... if they don't lard it with pointless proprietary technology...Ooohhh...
Very nice. Looks to have everything I was hoping for (back when I decide...... - 2009-07-03
» turning chessmen
Does anyone know of "technique" links, or plans & ideas (how-to) links on making chess pieces? I'm working on my first "decorative veneer" project, a large chessboard, and would like to make my own chessmen. I have only limited experience with the lathe, and will be using your lathe in a colleague's shop when ready to build the chessmen. At this stage, I really need some ideas and techniques to make the project "beginners level" easy. :confused:Mark
I plan to do the same thing. Hope someone replies so I too can get some idea's and help. Good luck and I f hear of something somewhere else I e-mail youBilliam,

When will people stop asking this? What does it take for people to understand that it is asked everyday, multiple times and draws sarcastic responses? What is anybody doing in any other section? Oh yah, answering and asking questions, duh. Unfortunately, you can't rely on Y!A users to check if their question has been asked before. » I had a sudden dizziness without moving, what could it be?
Just a while ago, i was just sitting in front of this computer when i suddenly felt dizzy, like everything was spinning.
More specifically, the left side of my head (the part a baseball cap would cover) felt weird, i felt like i was fainting and falling towards my left (i think).
I did not feel nauseous or hungry (i just ate supper), nor did i move quickly or spin my head. I was just typing at the computer screen then it just happened.
I stood up and jumped to try to shake it off and it went away in a while, probably within a minute, but i cant be sure.
Any suggestions on what might have caused it? I will go to the doctor to have this checked.TIA, blood clot moved, a cyst or tumor, and tons of other reasons. Go ask a doctor.you...... - 2009-07-03

Cannot send/receive mail at all. I have to close Outlook, reconnect to Bellsouth's DSL and am able to get on the Internet but cannot get email at all - just keep losing connectivity. » A left for dead movie or something?
i read the back of the game case and saw 20 new maps 10 new weapons what is this?Left 4 dead lets the player play in four scenarios that act like different movies. When you begin a scenario it actually shows a movie poster with you and your partners. The game itself is not being made into a movie, it just sets up like you are actually playing in a zombie movie. Theres a Gears movie in the work but I don't think a left for Dead one that kind of zombie story is to over done as it is.they should make a Gear Of Wars movie...... - 2009-07-03
